The trek back home

On our final day in Dornbirn yesterday we didn't do much except pack and embark on a quick shopping spree. Gomutti took the kids cycling after which they returned their borrowed bikes.

When the time came to go my father took me plus a few bits of our luggage to the Bregenz train station because their car doesn't have enough space for everyone (and all the luggage) in it. I took the train to St. Margrethen where I switched to the St. Gallen train and switched again from there to the Zurich Airport train. That final one is a cool double-decker one and it allows one to get a good view of beautiful Switzerland from the top deck.

I spent the time on the train debugging a swap-out I made between pandas and numpy in my gupe server (and looking out of the window). (Pandas has been refusing to run on my BSD linux system hosting my primary gupe server, so it meant switching back to good old numpy. It runs fine on an Ubuntu server though, except that that isn't an option through my current hosting provider at the moment.)

My father drove the rest of the family to Zurich which meant almost four hours in the car for him (there and back)! Very kind indeed.

Check-in: check

Zurich's great family service room (it's like a crèche with a microwave, changing facilities, play areas, etc.)

Another shot of the family room

The flight from Zurich to Paris was fine. Neil was a little niggly but we managed. The transfer between flights in Paris was a rush but we made that too. Unfortunately it was such an effort that we didn't get round to summoning sufficient energy to take any photos!

Marisa's parents met us at OR Tambo. We're back home now! It'll be a short night for me because I'll be back at the airport to fly to Botswana early tomorrow morning.
